TLDR: Born 1948. Not dead yet.
Born in Quebec City in 1948, Daniel Zuorro was surrounded by art from an early age as the son of a painter and avid art collector. This early exposure ignited his fascination with abstract expressionism. Zuorro's artistic journey took flight in 1969 with his first solo exhibition at Galerie Saint-Paul in Montreal, paving the way for an illustrious career that has seen his work showcased across Europe—from Amsterdam to Frankfurt, Stockholm to London—as well as in solo shows in Los Angeles and Honolulu, where he was represented by Gima’s Art Gallery.
In the early 1970s, Zuorro’s distinctive style drew comparisons to icons like Willem de Kooning and John Altoon by the legendary Leo Castelli. After this promising start, he shifted gears, dedicating several years to design and product development at Conceptual Dynamics, a company he founded in Toronto and later relocated to the scenic Pennsylvania Poconos.
Later, he channeled his talents into furniture, architecture, and home design in San Diego and the picturesque Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. However, the call of his true passion proved irresistible. In 2008, he opened an art gallery in the mountains of West Virginia, reigniting his love for painting and reconnecting with his artistic roots.
Today, Zuorro has settled in a sun-drenched studio just outside Miami, where he continues to create captivating works that reflect his unique vision and journey through the art world. His paintings resonate with the energy of a life devoted to creativity, inviting viewers to share in his ongoing exploration of form, color, and emotion.
